OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma−Edmond North took 13 state qualifiers, most in school history, to the 6A State Wrestling Tournament on February 27, 2021 in the Jim Norick Arena at the OKC Fairgrounds.  Among them were nine freshmen; that is the most freshmen state qualifiers from one team in the history of the Oklahoma State Wrestling Tournament.

North finished 3rd as a team and broke two more records in the process; most medalist in school history bringing home eight medals and most freshman medalist from the same team in the history of the State Wrestling Tournament with six medals.

“Bringing home eight medals from the state tournament is a huge accomplishment. I was proud to see so many of our wrestlers on the podium,” said Edmond North head wrestling coach, Andy Schneider.

The team had two individual state champions. Senior Braden Bowman beat Mustang’s Brannigan Reyes in the 182-pound finals and junior Jaxon Randall defeated Ponca City’s Gabriel Roland in the 170-pound weight class.

Edmond North will compete March 13, 2021 in Enid, OK for the 6A Team Dual State championship.  The team is seeded 1st in the tournament and hopes are high to bring home a team state title.

“Dual State is a fun and memorable team experience especially for our seniors.  I look forward to seeing some great matches from our wrestlers. They have worked hard to get here and I’m thankful we get this opportunity to wrestle again.” said Schneider.
